On Sunday morning, two policemen, identified as ASI Gurnam Singh and Home Guard Ashok Kumar were gunned down at Adhian village that comes under the jurisdiction of Dorangla Police Station in Gurdaspur district. Following this two Pakistan-linked outfits later claimed the responsibility of the crime.
Now another major development has taken place in the case as Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti released a video of the murder. The video shared by Bhatti shows ASI Gurnam Singh being shot at point blank range with a silencer attached to the pistol. Later, Bhatti also released an audio clip talking about the murders where he says that such incidents occur when people are harassed by the police. Bhatti also accused the Punjab Police of staging fake encounters alleging that later these encounters are liked to gangsters. He says that to avenge such actions, the public takes such steps.
After Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti released the video of the murder, the Lawrence gang has also been implicated in the case, as a member of Lawrence gang, Hari Boxer took to his social media handle and stated that they condemn the murder of honest policemen of India and warned that they would avenge these murders. They vowed that the Lawrence Bishnoi Group will punish those who are responsible.
This threat from the Lawrence group is directed towards a terrorist organisation Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH), which has claimed the responsibility of the killings. A post attributed to TTH earlier surfaced online and claimed the responsibility of the murders.
Following the incident, that claimed lives of ASI Gurnam Singh and Home Guard Ashok Kumar, who were posted on duty at the Adhian police post, one and a half kilometres from Pakistan border in Gurdaspur, a CCTV footage of late Sunday surfaced online showing the suspects fleeing on a bike.
Currently, an alert has been issued in the border areas of the state. Police have set up a special blockade in Ajnala, the Amritsar border area. Along with this, a strict special check is being conducted of all incoming and outgoing vehicles at these border areas.
