Passenger bus-truck collide on Amritsar–Pathankot Highway, over 30 injured, many feared dead

The accident took place near Gopalpura, Punjab and it is said that multiple deaths have taken place, but officials are yet to release the count.

In a horrific development, more than 30 passengers were left injured after a passenger bus and a tipper truck collided on the Amritsar–Pathankot National Highway. The accident took place near Gopalpura and it is said that multiple deaths have taken place, but officials are yet to release the count.

Over 30 passengers are said to have sustained serious injuries. Not only this but many injured passengers are also in critical condition. Although the officials are yet to release number of deaths in accident in Gopalpura, it is said that till now 10 people have died.

How bus-tipper truck accident happened on Amritsar–Pathankot National Highway?

According to eyewitnesses, a HS Premix Company tipper truck suddenly started crossing the road to turn toward its dumping site. The tipper truck driver allegedly changed his course without giving any signal or checking oncoming traffic.

At that very moment, a BTC company private bus traveling at high speed from Pathankot to Amritsar, collided directly with the tipper. The impact was so severe that all the interior seats were ripped off and the front portion of the bus was completely crushed.

The bus driver and a 15-year-old child are among those killed in the accident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been fully established.

Upon receiving the information, police and ambulances arrived at the scene. The police took possession of the bodies of the deceased and immediately sent the injured to nearby government and private hospitals for treatment. The police have seized both vehicles and initiated further investigation.
