A 24-year-old youth from Pathankot was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified person in Calgary, Canada, leaving his family and the local community in shock.
The deceased has been identified as Harjas Singh, a resident of Sundar Nagar in Pathankot. According to the family, Harjas had travelled abroad around three months ago in search of employment and was working at a store. He had reportedly travelled to Calgary from the US for some work when the fatal shooting took place.
Family Receives Shocking News
The news of Harjas’ death reached his family in Sundar Nagar, Pathankot, following which the household was plunged into mourning.
Relatives and local residents expressed grief over the young man’s death and appealed to the authorities to provide all possible assistance to bring his mortal remains back to India at the earliest.
Shooting Reported in Calgary
According to Calgary Police, officers responded to a report of a shooting at around 12:55 am on August 30 in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Boulevard NE.
When officers arrived at the location, they found a man deceased at the scene. The case is being investigated by the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.
No Arrest Yet
Police have not announced any arrest in connection with the shooting so far.
Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the person responsible for the killing.
