Incident Reported at School in Ludhiana
An alleged molestation incident involving a 16-year-old schoolgirl has come to light in Ludhiana, where a school peon, identified as Prince Pal, was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. The incident allegedly took place in the school’s teachers’ room when the student went to collect a book.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly grabbed the girl, pinned her against a wall and made obscene advances towards her. The family also alleged that the suspect had recorded a video of the minor.
Girl Went to Collect Book from Teacher’s Room
As per the complaint filed at the Tibba police station, the girl had informed her mother that she needed a book from the school. She subsequently approached her class teacher, who reportedly instructed her to collect the book from his room.
When the student went to the room and began searching for the book, the school peon allegedly arrived there and molested her. The complaint further stated that the family later learned that the accused had allegedly made a video of the 16-year-old student.
Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO Act
Taking the allegations into account, the police registered a case against Prince Pal on Friday under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Section 75 of the BNS deals with sexual harassment and includes specified forms of unwelcome sexual conduct. The POCSO Act provides legal protection to children against sexual offences.
Police Arrest Accused, Further Investigation Underway
Following the registration of the case, the Tibba police arrested the accused and initiated further investigation. The allegations concerning the purported video are also part of the complaint.
