A petrol tanker and a Hyundai Venue collided at Guru Nanak Mission Chowk in Jalandhar while negotiating a turn, leaving the car badly damaged. Fortunately, both drivers and the other occupants escaped unharmed. The accident led to a heated argument between the two parties, following which the police were called to the spot.
Tanker Driver Blames Venue Driver for Collision
Tanker driver Sarabjit Singh said he was driving alongside the divider after loading the tanker with petrol from Bathinda. According to him, the Venue driver hit the tanker while attempting to negotiate the turn.
Sarabjit Singh claimed that he had a video of the incident, which he said clearly showed that the Venue driver was responsible for the collision. He maintained that the tanker was moving along the divider when the accident occurred.
Venue Occupants Give Different Account
Baldev Singh Khalsa, who was travelling in the Venue, disputed the tanker driver's version. He said he is a resident of Maqsudan and was taking his children to the bus stand when the tanker driver took a turn.
According to Baldev Singh, the tanker caused his vehicle to swing, resulting in the collision. He claimed that he was travelling in the correct direction and that the accident occurred due to the tanker driver's fault. The rear door of the Venue was damaged in the crash.
Three People Were Inside the Car
Surtaaj Jeet Kaur said three people, including her parents and herself, were travelling in the Venue when the accident took place.
She alleged that the tanker driver took a turn and hit their vehicle. The car was badly damaged in the collision, but all three occupants escaped without serious injuries.
Police Begin Investigation
Police constable Sukhwinder Singh confirmed that a petrol tanker and a Hyundai Venue had collided while negotiating a turn.
He said an investigating officer was reaching the spot and that the exact circumstances of the accident would be established after examining the matter. The police are currently investigating the conflicting claims made by both sides.
