Government vehicle allegedly hit three to four vehicles
A government police vehicle allegedly hit three to four vehicles in Bhogpur, Jalandhar, late Monday night, following which local residents surrounded the vehicle and confronted the police personnel inside.
A video of the incident has since surfaced on social media, showing locals questioning the police personnel and demanding an explanation for the collisions.
Locals allege police personnel were intoxicated
According to eyewitnesses, the police vehicle allegedly collided with several vehicles, with one of the impacted vehicles reportedly suffering a tyre burst.
Locals alleged that the police personnel travelling in the vehicle were under the influence of alcohol and were unable to control the vehicle properly. However, the allegation has not been officially confirmed by the police so far.
Police vehicle surrounded amid confrontation
After the collisions, residents gathered around the government vehicle and asked the police personnel to come out. According to those present, the personnel remained inside the vehicle while locals recorded videos of the incident on their mobile phones.
The footage, which captures the confrontation and questioning by residents, was later circulated on social media.
SHO informed, police action awaited
As the situation escalated, local residents contacted the SHO of the concerned police station and informed him about the incident. They also sought action in the matter.
