The Punjab Government has declared a general holiday on 26 May 2026 (Tuesday) across the state in view of the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat General Elections 2026.
According to the official order, the holiday will also be applicable in all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions in Punjab as well as Chandigarh.
The notification states that the holiday has been declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, ensuring statutory validity of the decision.
