Today, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. During the meeting, both of them held a detailed discussion on several important issues, that include border areas beyond the fence and the Seed Bill.
During the meeting, the CM raised the issue of Seed Bill not being introduced in the Parliament without consulting Punjab, despite Punjab being an agrarian state. He further clarified that Punjab does not have any surplus water, and therefore, the SYL issue must be resolved at the earliest. He also raised the demand of appointing an officer from the Punjab cadre to the post of General Manager in the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
In addition to this he also requested the release of Rs 8,500 crore in Rural Development Fund (RDF), and addressed the matters related to Food and Civil Supplies and storage. He also highlighted the need for a swift resolution to the problems faced by farmers cultivating land in the border areas that go beyond the fence.
