ASHISHPURI
The Congress high command is likely to announce a new Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief soon, with the names of Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Pargat Singh and former Punjab minister Vijay Inder Singla doing the rounds in party circles by replacing current president AMRINDER Singh Raja Warring as per party sources.
According to sources, consultations are underway within the Congress leadership over the proposed organisational changes in Punjab. Pargat Singh and Vijay Inder Singla are among the leaders being discussed for the top organisational post, though no formal decision has been announced so far.
Sources also indicate that former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi could be given a new organisational responsibility in the PPCC as part of a broader restructuring of the state unit.
The possible changes are being viewed as an attempt by the Congress leadership to strengthen and reorganise its Punjab unit ahead of the party's future political activities in the state.
However, the final decision rests with the Congress high command, and the names and portfolios are subject to change until an official announcement is made.
