Punjab Govt Orders Major Police Reshuffle, Transfers Over 50 IPS/PPS Officers

The Punjab Government on Wednesday evening issued a major reshuffle in the police department, transferring and posting several IPS and PPS officers across the state on administrative grounds with immediate effect. The orders were issued by the Department of Home Affairs, with the approval of the competent authority.

As per the notification, senior IPS officers Dr S Boopathi has been posted as IGP Provisioning, Punjab, Chandigarh, while Gurdial Singh has been appointed as IGP Intelligence, Punjab, SAS Nagar. Sukhwant Singh Gill, earlier DIG Intelligence-I, Punjab, has been transferred as DIG Ferozepur Range. Among PPS officers, Kuljit Singh has been posted as AIG CID, Amritsar, and Mandeep Singh Gill as Commandant, PRTC, Jahankhelan. Several others, including officers holding additional charges, have also been reassigned key positions in various districts and units.

The large-scale transfers include officers from different cadres and seniority levels — from ADCPs to SPs across Ludhiana, Jalandhar, SAS Nagar, Ferozepur, and Amritsar, among others.
