Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has rolled out one of a kind healthcare scheme that will benefit 3 crore residents of Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal have launched Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana in Punjab. Under this scheme, residents of Punjab will get free medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh in government and empanelled private hospitals.
What is worth nothing that Punjab Government's Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana scheme can be availed by any resident of Punjab. A health card is being made in Punjab under which residents can get up to Rs 10 lakh cashless treatment.
There is no hidden terms or conditions in the scheme. It means, be it rich or poor, be it government employee or private employee or a businessperson, any resident of Punjab can get their Health Card made that will enable them to get upto Rs 10 lakh-worth free treatment in government and empanelled private hospitals.
The AAP government has called Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana 'biggest healthcare reform since Independence'.
Over 900 hospitals in Punjab and Chandigarh are empanelled with the Punjab government. Under this scheme, treatment for more than 2000 major and minor diseases will be done absolutely free, without any conditions.
Be it knee replacement, cardiac issues, cancer, etc treatment and surgery for every major and minor illness are free and cashless in Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.
During the launch of the scheme, CM Mann had said most earlier initiatives looked pro-poor on paper but excluded genuine beneficiaries due to unrealistic conditions.
Referring to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, he pointed out how families were declared ineligible simply for having a brick house, a bicycle, a fan, or even a gas stove.
CM Mann also criticised the Ujjwala Yojana, saying many families were labelled “well-off” after receiving a gas connection, only to be denied other benefits later.
Highlighting the difference, CM Mann said the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna covers every household in Punjab with no exclusion criteria, no blue card, no green card, no income cap. Under the scheme, every family will get up to ₹10 lakh cashless health insurance per year, covering all diseases, from minor treatments to major surgeries.
