The month of September 2025 has not started positively for Punjab and its nearby states like Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir (UT). Punjab is in crisis as at least 12 districts of the state are witnessing flood havoc. Not only this, but many other districts are witnessing continuous heavy rainfall from September 1.
Keeping the weather department's warning in mind, Punjab Government has shut down schools and colleges till September 3. Seeing weather prediction for the coming days, educational institutions may be further shutdown.
Talking about Punjab Holidays in September 2025, government employees may witness a potential long weekend in the coming days. Continue reading below to know how-
September 1 (Monday): Observed as the birth anniversary of Baba Shri Chand Ji, this is a restricted government holiday, applicable only to state employees.
September 1-3 (Monday-Wednesday): Schools and colleges across Punjab remain closed due to heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions, as announced by the Punjab government.
September 5 (Friday): Eid-e-Milad will be observed as a restricted holiday.
September 6 is Anant Chaturdashi is also restricted holiday. And, Sunday (7th) being weekends, government employees can expect an extended long weekend.
Schools and colleges are expected to reopen as usual if weather conditions improve. Until official announcements are made, restricted holidays remain applicable only to government employees.
For those who are unware, a restricted holiday is an optional day off that employees can choose to take based on their personal, cultural, or religious preferences.
