Jalandhar: In a major breakthrough against cross-border terrorism, the Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar unit, in a joint operation with Jalandhar Rural Police, has busted an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by foreign-based handlers. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, resulting in the arrest of a key operative from Jalandhar and the recovery of a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
According to Punjab Police, the recovered IED contained 1.3 kg of high explosives and was packed with shrapnel and ball bearings, indicating that it was intended for a high-impact attack aimed at causing maximum casualties and disturbing public peace. The timely operation successfully foiled a major terror plot and saved innocent lives.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Patara, Jalandhar Rural, under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.
Punjab Police said investigations are underway to uncover the entire terror network, including foreign-based ISI handlers, local support networks, financiers, and all forward and backward linkages connected to the conspiracy.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said Punjab Police remains fully committed to dismantling terror networks, eliminating organised crime, and ensuring peace, security, and public safety across the state. Further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses.
