At a time when Punjab is witnessing PRTC Roadways Employees protest that has disrupted bus services in the state, Rail Roko (Rail blockade) was announced on Tuesday. Rail blockade in Punjab has been called by farmers' outfit- Kisan Mazdoor Morcha on December 5.
For those who are unaware, it is the same union who sat on an indefinite dharna at the Shambhu-Khanauri border. However, now protest site at the Shambhu-Khanauri border has been cleared by the Punjab Government.
Kisan Mazdoor Morcha whose convener is Sarwan Pandher has announced that farmers will sit on railways tracks in 19 districts of Punjab. The farmer union has also shared a list of railway stations where they will sit on Dharna.
It is pertinent to mention here that 'Rail Roko' in Punjab on December 5 will be for 2 hours- from 1 pm to 3 pm.
KMM will hold 2-hours protest at 26 places in 19 districts. They are demanding the rollback of Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, removal of prepaid meters and replacement of old meters.
