Punjab reels under intense cold; Last week of 2025 brings extra chills

As per the weather forecasts, early morning fog & cool breeze is contributing to extra cold temperatures in Punjab.

Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana are all seeing cool winter days with highs around 20–21 degrees and chilly nights near 6–7 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of rain in the coming days.

Amritsar weather

– As per the IMD weather predictions, the minimum temperature recorded in Amritsar is approximately 7 degrees, and the maximum will touch 21 degrees at some point, thus resulting in a cold morning and a mild afternoon.

- The forecast also indicated that there would be partly cloudy skies along with light winds, so the effect of cold temperatures would linger throughout the day, including early morning and late evening.

- The dense fog/mist in the Golden City, especially during early morning hours may cause reduced visibility on the roads.

Jalandhar weather

- Jalandhar is also experiencing normal winter conditions of North India, where day temperature is around 20 to 21 degrees and at night its 7 degrees

- The weather expected in the city is expected to be cloudy to partly cloudy, and this will ensure that sunlight is not plain and that air is cool.

- There can be morning fog, so it is expected that people should not drive too speedily, especially when driving on highways, with headlights dimmed.

Ludhiana climate

As the weather predicts, the day temperature in Ludhiana continues to hover around 20 degrees, and the minimum temperature in the night hangs around 7 degrees, providing an equally cold climate to Punjab

The weather forecast indicates the climate throughout the week in the district will  be partly to mostly cloudy with a weak western disturbance anticipated to bring some scattered downpours by mid-week.

Early morning fog and breeze can make it feel even colder. Therefore, persons who are to venture out to work, school, or fields should be prepared with a warm attire, cap, and muffler.

This affects individuals. – For common citizens, the average temperature would require light to moderate woollens during the day and heavier jackets in the night, particularly for those on two-wheelers and those working in the open.

Farmers in the three districts are advised to be cautious with water in their wheat and vegetable crops because of the possibility of frost development in low-lying areas because of calm nights and foggy and cool days. - There are no prospects of heavy rainfall, so the traffic situation in GT Road, in addition to other principal highways, is expected to remain normal, but reduced visibility is expected in some parts due to fog, before sunrise.
