Punjab weather alert: Here’s when & where thunderstorms are expected next

Temperatures may dip with the call of rain in the upcoming week

According to the reports by IMD Chandigarh, light rains occurred at isolated places in Punjab making acute changes in the temperature. The maximum temperature in the state is 37.0°C recorded at BATHINDA AP while the minimum temperature in the state is 25.0°C recorded at GURDASPUR & BALLOWAL SAUNKRI. Bathinda faced wind gusts up to 41 KMPH and Pathankot had few showers.

The weather department has forecast that rainy spell will continue across Punjab over next few days and light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places from June 18th to June 22nd. The temperature is to rise by 2-3 degrees in maximum temperatures during next 2 days while no changes after are reported. The state may experience thunderstorm, lightning, gusty Wind (40-50 KMPH) likely at isolated places on 16th & 17th and then again from 19th to 22nd in the state.

The next week invites showers majorly for some parts of Kapurthala, Rupnagar, Patiala, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds at around 40-50 KMPH.      

For June 18, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 KMPH are likely at isolated places in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Rupnagar and SAS Nagar (Mohali) and along with this light to moderate rainfall is expected at a few places in these districts and at isolated places in several other districts including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Patiala and Sangrur.

The next few days, June 19-June 22 record similar weather conditions expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Jalandhar and SAS Nagar (Mohali)
