Punjab weather warning: IMD issues yellow alert for multiple districts this week

A yellow alert has been issued for November 27, with cold wave conditions in parts of southwest and south-central Punjab.

Punjab is going to enter a week when the winter will show two different moods: normal seasonal chill for most places and a brief, sharp cold wave in a few southwestern districts. The Meteorological Centre Chandigarh has given clear day-wise conditions over the next five days, which will help the residents plan ahead.

27 November 2025
Yellow alert has been issued for cold wave conditions in parts of southwest and south-central Punjab, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Barnala, Bathinda and nearby areas. Daytime will be cool while night temperatures will fall considerably. The rest of the state stays in green, which means no weather warning.

28 November 2025
The yellow alert continues for the same belt of southwest Punjab. People here have been advised to stay prepared for further decline in night temperatures. Meanwhile, central and northern districts such as Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala and Gurdaspur face no special warning and will see regular early-winter chill.

29 November 2025
By this day, the cold wave zone shrinks. Most districts turn green, indicating easing of extreme cold. Only a small pocket in the southwest may still see slightly lower minimum temperatures, but no official warning is issued.

30 November 2025
Punjab becomes fully green on the weather map. No cold wave or hazardous conditions are expected anywhere. Winter will continue to be felt without any severe departures from normal temperatures.

1 December 2025
The state continues in the no-warning category, marking a steady start to December. No alerts for dense fog or cold wave are mentioned in the bulletin.

On the whole, the residents in the yellow-alert districts, particularly on 27 and 28 November, must be cautious during the night and early morning. According to the IMD, keeping track of local updates will help people get timely updates for sudden changes in temperature patterns.
