Punjab Winter: Daytime temperature slightly increase after rain impact gets over

After days of rainfall, Punjab’s skies have cleared but temperatures remain below normal, keeping mornings and nights chilly.

Over the past 24 hours, Punjab has witnessed a slight increase of 0.4 degrees temperature. However, despite this rise, the overall temperature in the state remains 3% below normal, leaving residents feeling a noticeable chill in the air.

The recent rainfall and active western disturbances have resulted in cold nights and relatively mild daytime temperatures across most regions. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in most cities is still below 30°C. Ludhiana recorded 30.6°C, Patiala 30.7°C, Bathinda 31°C, and Ropar (Rupnagar) 30°C. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Faridkot at 33.5°C.

In other cities, Amritsar recorded 28.5°C, Pathankot 29.3°C, Gurdaspur 28.5°C, SBS Nagar 28.5°C, Fazilka 29.6°C, Ferozepur 29°C, Hoshiarpur 28.5°C, and Mohali 29.9°C.

Meteorologists attribute this dip in temperature mainly to the rainfall that occurred in the past few days. However, there is no forecast of rain in the coming days, and no weather alerts have been issued by the department. The weather is expected to remain stable with no major changes in temperature over the next few days.

Weather in Major cities of Punjab

  • Amritsar: Clear skies; no chances of rain. Temperature likely to range between 17°C and 28°C.

  • Jalandhar: Clear skies; no chances of rain. Temperature likely to range between 17°C and 28°C.

  • Ludhiana: Clear skies; no chances of rain. Temperature likely to range between 18°C and 29°C.

  • Patiala: Clear skies; no chances of rain. Temperature likely to range between 18°C and 28°C.

  • Mohali: Clear skies; no chances of rain. Temperature likely to range between 19°C and 30°C.

Meteorologists say the slight temperature rise is part of a transitional phase between monsoon withdrawal and the onset of winter in northern India. In the coming weeks, Punjab is likely to witness gradual cooling during early mornings and late evenings, especially in districts like Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and Gurdaspur.
