Punjab's political as well as Entertainment fraternity went into shock after singer-actress-turned politician Anmol Gagan Maan quit politics.
Anmol Gagan Maan took to her X handle to announce that she is leaving politics and therefore resigning as Kharar MLA. Anmol Gagan Maan was in Aam Aadmi Party.
In an emotional note, she confirmed that she has submitted her resignation from the Punjab Assembly and requested the Speaker to accept it.
“(Translated Version)My heart is heavy, but I have decided to leave politics. I request the Speaker to accept my resignation from the post of MLA. My best wishes remain with the party. I hope the Punjab Government lives up to the people’s expectations.” Maan said in her statement.
Anmol Gagan Maan, who represented the Kharar constituency, was also a prominent face of the party and served as a Cabinet Minister in the Bhagwant Mann-led government.
While she did not elaborate on the reasons behind her resignation, her statement hints at a personal and reflective decision.
In the Bhagwant Singh Mann-cabinet, Anmol previously served as Punjab Tourism Minister. She got married in June last year in Zirakpur.
Anmol belongs to Khillan village near Jawharke in Mansa, the same constituency where Sidhu Moose Wala belonged to. She had contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections in the Kharar Constituency and secured victory.
As soon as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was formed in the state, she was given the post of a cabinet minister. Apart from CM Bhagwant Mann, AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal himself came to campaign for her. She organized a tourism summit in Punjab for the first time ever.
