Railway station superintendent accused of hitting train manager with stick in Lohian Khas

A dispute over the movement of a goods train at Lohian Khas railway station in Jalandhar district allegedly turned violent on Thursday after the station superintendent struck a train manager on the head with a stick. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the train manager’s mobile phone falling after the alleged blow.

The incident was brought to the attention of Divisional Operations Manager (DOM) of the Firozpur railway division, who has called both employees for further proceedings. The matter will be investigated by the Firozpur division. Meanwhile, the Government Railway Police (GRP) has recorded statements in connection with the incident.

Dispute over train movement

According to the information available, the BTPN rake, which was travelling from the Firozpur division towards Jammu, reached Lohian Khas station at around 11 am on Thursday.

The train manager, Ravi, and locomotive pilot were reportedly awaiting instructions on whether the rake should proceed or remain at the station. Ravi repeatedly sought a message from station superintendent Yashwant over the walkie-talkie but allegedly received no response.

The locomotive pilot also reportedly attempted to obtain clarification, but no response was received.

Argument escalates into alleged assault

After the repeated attempts to obtain instructions, a message was sent to the station superintendent through a pointman. The response indicated that another train would be given priority before the BTPN rake could proceed.

The train manager subsequently approached to seek clarity on whether the rake had to wait for the other train. During this interaction, the station superintendent allegedly became angry and struck the train manager on the head with a stick.

The incident led to a commotion at the railway station. The video circulating online reportedly captures the moment of the alleged assault, with the train manager’s phone falling following the blow.

Railway division and GRP take up matter

Following the incident, the matter was reported to DOM , who summoned both the station superintendent and the train manager. Further proceedings and an inquiry are expected to take place under the Firozpur division.

The GRP has also recorded statements as part of its proceedings. Further details regarding the outcome of the inquiry and any action against the employees are awaited.

The incident has drawn attention to the dispute over train movement instructions and the alleged physical altercation between railway employees at Lohian Khas station.
