The second phase of monsoon has commenced in India, and today, on August 1, 2025, Punjab witnessed very heavy rainfall, which resulted in water-logged streets, causing disruption of traffic, and difficulty for commuters to travel.

However, from August 2 to August 5, it has been predicted that the rainfall and the chances of rain will both reduce with time. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the majority of the states will see isolated to a few rainfall, along with a few chances of thunderstorms and lightning, and only two to four regions or districts will be witnessing heavy or very heavy rainfall.

The regions and districts that will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall include Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Fatehgarh Sahib.

Few Rainfall (heavy to moderate) - Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana, and Patiala

Isolated Rainfall (moderate to less) - Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozpur, Moga, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazikla, Bhatinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala, and Moga.

August 3

Sunday

Heavy Rainfall - Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar

Few Rainfall (heavy to moderate) - Amritsar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Patiala, and Fatehgarh Sahib.

Isolated Rainfall (moderate to less) - Tarn Taran, Moga, Bhatinda, and Barnala.

Dry - Faridkot, Ferozpur, Muktsar, and Mansa.
