Rama Mandi service lane to be widened to 15 feet to ease traffic congestion

The decision comes as vehicles stopping near the bus stand and passengers waiting there frequently contribute to traffic disruption.

Decision taken in district road safety committee meeting

Commuters in Rama Mandi are set to get relief from the daily traffic congestion as the service lane along the highway will be widened to 15 feet. The decision was taken during a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held at the district administrative complex under the chairmanship of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia

The widened service lane will provide separate space for local traffic and is expected to reduce congestion on the main road. The decision comes as vehicles stopping near the bus stand and passengers waiting there frequently contribute to traffic disruption.

Service lane to help manage local traffic

Under the plan, vehicles stopping at the bus stand and those picking up or dropping off passengers will be accommodated on the widened service lane. This is aimed at preventing traffic from piling up on the main carriageway.

The DC office will also send a ‘DO letter’ to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to initiate the work. The process will involve the required administrative approvals and construction tender procedures.
