Raman Arora Extortion Case

Raman Arora is police custody on the basis of a complaint lodged by a local contractor Ramesh. Ramesh has alleged that MLA Raman Arora had extorted money from him and also threatened him. On the basis of this complaint, Rama Mandi police took action against the MLA and arrested him and presented him in the court.

During the court hearing, the police argued that the investigation of the case is still incomplete and it is necessary to question Raman Arora in depth. The police say that some important evidence and the role of other people can be revealed only when Raman Arora is questioned further. The court accepted this demand of the police and granted three days of additional remand.

MLA Raman Arora was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) in a corruption and extortion case on May 23 involving his alleged collusion with a municipal official.

On September 3, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted Arora bail in the vigilance case.

On September 4, immediately after bail, Jalandhar police produced Arora under a production warrant before remand proceedings for the new extortion FIR.
