Rat found in golgapa water in Amritsar, viral video sparks hygiene concerns

The said viral video was posted by the user on Instagram on February 8 and has garnered over 51.5 million views till now

A concerning video has been going viral on social media where a rat was found in a container of golgapa water (a spice water mixture prepared for pani puri) in Amritsar. The video was allegedly taken by a vlogger and his friends relishing golgapas when they notice a sudden movement in the golgapa water. Just moments later, they discover a rat covered in spices appearing out of water.

The street food vender tried to remove the rat from his cart, and within seconds the rat jumped out of the utensil and runs into a nearby drain. This incident has sparked serious questions on hygiene and cleanliness and the functioning of the Food Safety Department.   

The said video was posted by the user on Instagram on February 8 and has garnered over 51.5 million views till now.

The video has spared an online debate and a wave of anger has consumed the public, as many have called it a serious breach of food safety.
