SGPC announces full legal support for 'Satluj' film organisers, condemns FIR

He described the case as baseless and affirmed the strong support of SGPC against the legal action.

SGPC member and Advocate Amanbir Singh Siyali addressed several panthic and social issues and made a series of significant announcements Wednesday after an important meeting of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) executive committee

‘Baseless case’

Speaking to the media, Siyali strongly condemned the FIR registered against the organisers of the film Satluj in Ganganagar, Rajasthan for screening of the movie. He described the case as baseless and affirmed the strong support of SGPC against the legal action.

He informed that the SGPC has already been fighting the matter legally and will continue to provide every possible legal assistance to the film's organisers. According to him, taking legal action to suppress artistic expression or differing viewpoints is unjustified, and added that the matter will be contested strictly within the framework of the law.

Response to remarks by Ravneet Singh Bittu

Responding to recent remarks made by Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu regarding the figures related to the Sikh genocide, Siyali said the issue is not about numbers but about securing justice for every innocent person who lost their life in fake police encounters and other incidents. He also said that such a sensitive issue should not be politicised. He further added that the Ardas performed at Sri Akal Takht Sahib was meant for the welfare of all and to seek justice, not to create hostility against any community. Siyali alleged that Bittu's statements could harm communal harmony and urged public representatives to avoid making such remarks.

Spread of AI generated fake videos

The SGPC leader also expressed serious concern over the rapid spread of AI-generated fake videos on social media. He warned that such content has the potential to create confusion, misinformation, and hatred within society.

Appeal to the central government

He appealed to the Central Government to amend broadcasting and digital media regulations and introduce stricter legal provisions to curb the misuse of artificial intelligence for creating and circulating fake videos.

Concluding his address, Siyali said the SGPC will continue to stand firmly for panthic interests, justice, and truth. He asserted that whenever the Sikh community or panthic issues face injustice, the committee will continue its fight through legal and democratic means.
