SGPC cracks down on AI-generated content violating Sikh sanctity

It aims to seek expert opinions on AI-related issues, formulate suggestions to curb digital content that offends Sikhism, traditions and religious sentiments.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken a significant decision in response to the growing misuse of the Artificial Intelligence (AI). SGPC has constituted a special sub-committee to control the creation of videos, images and other related digital content with the help of AI based technology that violate the sanctity of Sikhism.  

Reports confirm that the decision was made during a meeting of the SGPC’s interim committee meeting held on October 13, 2025, under resolution number 1002, where the sub-committee was appointed by the President. The main objective of the sub-committee is to keep a strict vigil on the content generated by using AI that goes against the morality of Sikhism. It aims to seek expert opinions on AI-related issues and formulate concrete suggestions to curb digital content that offends Sikhism, its traditions and religious sentiments.

This sub-committee that formulated by the SGPC comprises of experts in the field from home and abroad, it also has been ensured that both technical and religious aspects are considered when finding solutions. This move aims to demonstrate that even in the age of modern technology, the protection of religious values is paramount and it has been made clear that any kind of digital manipulation would not be tolerated.
