Shambhu border shut down today -  5 diversion routes announced

Because of a protest heading to the Shambhu checkpoint on Nov 14, the crossing between Punjab and Haryana will stay shut from 7 AM till 5 PM today. This shutdown comes as Haryana cops take steps ahead of a large gathering organized by several farming groups along with the Samyukt Insaaf Morcha.

Traffic rerouting but also detours around congestion

To keep vehicles moving, Haryana Police began rerouting traffic at 5 AM. As a result, travelers are being asked to use one of these five alternative paths instead

- Fatehgarh Sahib–Ladhowal–Airforce Chowk Mohali–Dera Bassi–Ambala

- Rajpura–Banur–Zirakpur (Chhat Lights)–Dera Bassi–Ambala

- Rajpura–Ghanour–Ambala (Delhi National Highway)

- Patiala–Ghanour–Ambala (Delhi National Highway)

- Budhlada–Manoli–Surat–Lehli–Laldu–Ambala (only for small vehicles)

Chance of cars getting stuck in long lines

Officials say there’s a big chance of road blockages, mostly near Rajpura town or along the route to Zirakpur. Cops will be posted heavily at every split point so cars move smoothly while keeping things under control.

Administration’s appeal

The authorities asked folks to go along with road changes, skip non-essential trips - while keeping up with traffic news now and then. These moves aim to keep things calm and people safe when the demonstration happens.

People going to Ambala or crossing at Shambhu should map out their way early - also, stick to what cops say so things go smooth.
