A special event is scheduled to be held tomorrow, May 7, at 8 AM at Jalandhar Central as part of the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ (Journey of Gratitude) being undertaken by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann following the passing of the “Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sataar (Amendment) Act, 2026.” This event will commence near Varinder Singh Ghuman Park (formerly known as DC Park) in Jalandhar Central, from where the Chief Minister’s journey will proceed forward. This journey is not merely an event, but an emotional initiative dedicated to Punjab’s faith, belief, and reverence for the Guru Sahibans, through which a message of devotion and gratitude is being conveyed across the entire state.
Preparations for this significant event are in their final stages, and the administration and local leadership remain fully alert and prepared. Today, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varjeet Walia and Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, accompanied by Nitin Kohli (halka Incharge of Jalandhar Central), visited the site to conduct a detailed inspection of the arrangements. During this visit, a thorough review was conducted covering all aspects related to security, traffic management, stage preparations, public amenities, and the smooth execution of the program.
During the inspection, the officials issued clear directives to the concerned departments to ensure that the event is conducted in a completely organized, secure, and dignified manner, thereby ensuring that the large number of devotees and citizens expected to attend do not face any form of inconvenience. Every arrangement at the event venue was scrutinized in minute detail, and steps were taken to ensure that all preparations are completed ahead of schedule. On this occasion, Nitin Kohli, In-charge of Jalandhar Central, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has taken a historic decision to safeguard the religious sentiments of the state through the "Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sataar (Amendment) Act, 2026." He remarked that the 'Shukrana Yatra' (Journey of Gratitude) symbolizes that very resolve and reverence, serving as a means to express gratitude towards the Guru Sahibans.
Nitin Kohli further added that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is making continuous strides in the spheres of development, transparency, and public service. The government's policies are designed in the best interest of the common people and are working to steer the state in a new direction. He expressed confidence that this journey would further strengthen unity, brotherhood, and a positive outlook within society.
He also noted that the event scheduled for May 7 in Jalandhar Central would mark a significant milestone in the 'Shukrana Yatra,' with a large number of devotees expected to participate. All preparations have been completed, and every aspect of the event has been finalized with the cooperation of the administration.
This event will be organized with a spirit "dedicated to respect, reverence, and the soul of Punjab"—an endeavor that will not only reinforce religious faith but also disseminate a positive message throughout society.
