A tragic road accident on the Fatehgarh Churian–Sangatpura road late Sunday night has left the village of Hardorwal Kalan in deep mourning after three young men from the same village lost their lives.
Statements by eyewitnesses
According to villagers and eyewitnesses, the victims—Pardeep Singh, Judge Masih and Sandeep—were travelling towards Amritsar on a motorcycle when they were allegedly hit by a speeding Indigo car bearing registration number PB 18 T 2535 between Kotla Gujran and Sangatpura.
Pardeep Singh and Judge Masih reportedly died on the spot following the collision. Sandeep was initially rushed to a private hospital in Fatehgarh Churian after sustaining critical injuries. Given the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to Amritsar, but he reportedly died on the way.
The accident has left the families of the three victims devastated, with relatives and villagers gathering in grief as the news spread across Hardorwal Kalan.
Occupants Allegedly Fled After the Crash
Eyewitnesses claimed that two people, reportedly a woman and a child, were travelling in the car and fled the scene after the accident. Villagers further alleged that the mobile phone of one of the deceased was taken from the scene before the occupants left.
According to information provided by those present, police also recovered items from the vehicle, including documents reportedly related to silver, burnt currency notes and a kirpan. The circumstances surrounding these items are yet to be established and would require verification as part of the police investigation.
Jurisdiction Dispute Allegedly Delayed Police Action
The incident also triggered anger among villagers over an alleged delay in police action. According to locals, confusion reportedly arose over whether the accident fell under the jurisdiction of Jhander Police Station or Majitha Police Station, with villagers alleging that the jurisdiction issue delayed the initial response.
The SHO of Jhander Police Station, Naresh Kumar, along with a police team, eventually reached the spot. The bodies were taken into custody and legal proceedings were initiated.
For the residents of Hardorwal Kalan, however, the tragedy has left an entire community grieving. Three young lives have been lost in a single accident, while questions remain over the circumstances of the crash, the alleged fleeing of the occupants and the reported delay in police action.
The police investigation is expected to establish the exact sequence of events, identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the death of the three young men.
