RPF registers case against unidentified person
A Delhi Intercity Express was allegedly targeted with stones near Ludhiana, leaving three window panes of a coach damaged and raising concerns over the safety of passengers and railway staff.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case against an unidentified person and launched an investigation into the incident.
Complaint received through railway security control room
According to the complaint received by the Divisional Security Control Room, Firozpur, on October 6, a stone hit a moving train, damaging a window.
Following the information, RPF Sub-Inspector Vijaypal Singh and Assistant Sub-Inspector Chaman Lal inspected the railway track and surrounding area. However, no suspicious person was found near the reported location.
The exact spot of the incident could not be immediately confirmed as the complainant had not shared a mobile number.
Three window panes found broken
On October 7, information about the incident was also shared through the railway's 139 helpline.
RPF officials from Amritsar inspected Train No. 14679 Delhi Intercity Express after it reached Amritsar railway station at around 10:25 pm
Assistant Sub-Inspector Ranveer Singh, along with C&W staff and JE Rohit Kumar, examined the train. During the inspection, three damaged window panes were found in coach No. NR 246321 (LWSCZ) near seats 43, 44 and 45.
A joint note regarding the damage was also prepared by railway officials.
Stone reportedly hit train before Ludhiana
According to the complaint, the stone struck the train from the left side before Ludhiana.
The incident has been treated as a case of criminal interference with railway operations. The RPF has registered a case under Sections 153 and 147 of the Railways Act, citing the potential danger posed to passengers and railway employees by stone-pelting at a moving train
CCTV footage being examined
With no suspect found during the initial search, the RPF is now examining CCTV cameras installed around the railway track and checking available video footage to identify the person responsible.
Investigators are collecting possible clues that could help establish the exact location and identify the accused.
Investigation handed over to RPF officer
The further investigation has been assigned to Sub-Inspector Vijaypal Singh. Senior railway officials have also been informed about the incident.
The RPF is continuing efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the stone-pelting and trace the unidentified accused.
