Strict action against drug mafia continues under the leadership of CM Mann: Nitin Kohli

According to government reports, 36,178 cases registered, 51,648 arrests made and ₹16.70 crore drug money recovered in one year

Marking the completion of one year of the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge Nitin Kohli stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government’s fight against drugs has emerged as a historic and result-oriented movement. He said the campaign is not merely a government initiative but has evolved into a large-scale people’s movement driven by public participation.

According to government reports, during the past one year, 36,178 cases have been registered and 51,648 arrests have been made, while drug money worth ₹16.70 crore has been recovered. Major recoveries include 2,276.98 kg of heroin, 29,299 kg of poppy husk, 686 kg of opium, 807.96 kg of cannabis, 36.47 kg of synthetic narcotics, 68 kg of charas, and 4.46 kg of cocaine, along with a substantial quantity of intoxicant tablets, capsules, and injections.

Nitin Kohli stated that the campaign has been implemented with proper planning and accountability. Punjab was divided into five zones, and Village Defence Committees were constituted to strengthen grassroots monitoring. Members have been provided a secure digital platform to report drug traffickers directly to police headquarters, ensuring action within 48 hours.

He further added that de-addiction centres have undergone significant reforms. Along with treatment, skill development training is being provided so that recovering individuals can reintegrate into society with dignity and sustainable employment opportunities.

Concluding, Nitin Kohli emphasized that this battle is not just for the present but for the future of the coming generations, and under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the crackdown against the drug mafia will be intensified further.
