Sultanpur Lodhi deaths not linked to drugs: SSP Toora debunks mother’s claims

Victim family linked to drug peddling, the mother never approached police or filed any complaint related to drugs: Officials

In Pandori locality in Sultanpur Lodhi situated in Kapurthala a mother had claimed that she lost four of her five sons due to drug addiction in the past few years and now her fifth and last son is also in critical condition. 

Different reasons of death reported

Considering the seriousness of the case Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora addressed the media and stated that the four sons in the family died due to different reasons and further stated that the victim’s family never approached the police or filed any complaint related to drugs.

The first death occurred about 8 years ago in jail custody while the second happened 7 years ago due to burn injuries and the third was caused by excessive alcohol consumption, the fourth occurred about 2 years ago due to various illnesses.

Family’s drug history exposed

SSP Toora stated that members of the victim’s family have a past history related to drug peddling and cases under the NDPS Act have also been registered against them, the police also stated that the fifth son is currently hospitalized and suffering from multiple illnesses and he also has been convicted in a criminal case.

No formal complaint filed

SSP Toora said that the police facilitated counselling from time to time and also helped provide medicines from a de-addiction center in March 2026 and according to the police two members of the family have criminal cases registered against them and further claimed that the family never filed any formal complaint or provided information against drug peddlers.

Police made it clear that strict action against drug traffickers will continue in the future and immediate action will be taken upon receiving information.
