Cash, silver jewellery worth around ₹60,000 stolen
In a suspected house burglary, thieves allegedly broke into a home in Fajjupur village of Gurdaspur and fled with cash and silver jewellery worth around ₹50,000–₹60,000. The incident reportedly took place when the woman of the house had stepped out briefly to serve tea to her husband, who runs a fast-food business.
According to the family, the woman left home at around 7:30 PM, as she routinely does, to take tea to her husband. She returned after around half an hour and found the locks of the house broken.
House ransacked, valuables found missing
The woman immediately informed her husband, who reached home and found the house in disarray. On checking their belongings, the family discovered that cash and silver jewellery kept inside the house were missing.
Gulshan, son of Viru and a resident of the lane near the local gurdwara in Fajupur, told reporters that he runs a fast-food business and his wife regularly brings him tea in the evening
He said the family found that the thieves had broken into the house and searched through their belongings before escaping with approximately ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 in cash along with some silver jewellery.
CCTV footage of suspected thieves surfaces
A CCTV video has also reportedly surfaced in connection with the incident. The footage allegedly shows suspicious-looking individuals moving through the locality with their faces covered.
The family has approached the police and submitted a complaint, seeking swift action against those responsible. They have urged the police to identify and arrest the suspects and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
Police action and further verification of the CCTV footage are awaited.
