A school in Jalandhar’s Kishanpura area has reportedly been targeted by thieves yet again, with St. George’s Convent School reporting its third theft in just two months.
The latest incident allegedly involved thieves stealing an LED television and an AC compressor from the school. The school principal has informed the Surya Enclave police about the incident.
The suspected theft was also captured on the school’s CCTV cameras, with footage reportedly showing a man cutting wires on the school’s rooftop. The suspect’s face is said to be clearly visible in the footage.
CCTV Captures Suspected Thief on School Roof
According to the school, the latest theft took place after an unidentified person allegedly entered the premises and targeted electrical equipment.
CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspect on the rooftop, where he can allegedly be seen cutting wires. The school has said that the footage may help police identify the person involved.
The police investigation is awaited.
‘Third Theft in Two Months’
Teacher Jaswinder said the school has now witnessed three theft incidents within approximately two months.
According to him, the first incident took place in June, when thieves allegedly escaped with LED televisions and electrical wires.
A second theft was reportedly reported in July, during which electronic equipment was allegedly stolen from the premises.
The latest incident marks the third reported theft, according to the teacher.
Teacher Alleges Police Were Informed Each Time
Jaswinder alleged that the police were informed after all three incidents but claimed that no effective action was taken.
He said the police were informed about the latest incident at around 8 am, but by approximately 11 am, no police official had reached the school to record a statement.
The allegations regarding the previous complaints and police response could not be independently verified.
‘Three Hours Passed, But No Police Official Reached’
The teacher claimed that after informing an ASI, he was allegedly given the number of a munshi and was subsequently directed to another police official.
According to him, several hours passed but no police personnel arrived at the school.
He further claimed that the school is located only a short distance from the police station, raising questions over the response time.
School Raises Concern Over Students’ Safety
The repeated thefts have also raised concerns over security at the school.
Jaswinder questioned how the school could ensure the safety of students and staff when, according to him, the premises itself lacks adequate security.
He urged the administration and police authorities to take the matter seriously and strengthen security arrangements around the school.
‘Security Is Zero’
Expressing frustration over the alleged lack of police action, the teacher claimed that police presence is visible when challans have to be issued but alleged that security arrangements are inadequate when residents and institutions need protection.
The school has appealed to the authorities for immediate action, identification of the suspected thief and measures to prevent further incidents.
The police version and details of any formal FIR or investigation into the latest theft are awaited.
