Commissionerate Police Jalandhar implements special measures to ensure leace and law & order during Diwali

With the festival of lights around the corner, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has announced an elaborate security and safety plan to ensure peace, smooth traffic, and public safety across the city during Diwali celebrations. Extending warm greetings to residents, the police assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.

Below are the five key security measures announced by the Jalandhar Police:

1 Intensified Patrolling and Deployment

To handle large gatherings and increased public movement, police presence has been intensified across major markets, residential colonies, and busy intersections. Teams have been deployed round the clock, and patrolling has been strengthened to deter any untoward incidents. High-tech checkpoints have also been set up at key entry and exit points of the city for close monitoring.

2 Public Address Systems (PAS) for Real-Time Updates

To keep citizens informed, Public Address Systems (PAS) have been activated at prominent intersections. These systems are making continuous announcements about safety measures, cracker-bursting timings, and traffic advisories, ensuring direct communication with the public.

3 Cameras for Surveillance and Transparency

In a major step towards modern surveillance, on-duty police personnel have been equipped with body cameras, while tripod cameras have been installed at sensitive locations. These cameras will help in real-time monitoring, improve transparency, and enable quick responses in case of emergencies.

4 Special Traffic Management Plan

A comprehensive traffic plan has been rolled out to manage congestion in markets and crowded zones. Additional traffic police personnel have been deployed, and parking arrangements have been improved to ensure smooth vehicular movement and minimize inconvenience to commuters.

5 Regulated Cracker Timings and Public Safety Appeal

Reiterating the importance of compliance, the police have urged residents to burst crackers only between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM as per government norms.

"Citizens have been advised to follow all safety precautions, avoid overcrowded areas, and celebrate Diwali in the spirit of peace and community harmony", said CP Jalandhar Dhanpreet Kaur.

In an appeal to the public, the police said: "We request citizens to promptly report any suspicious activity by calling 112. The police are available 24x7 to ensure everyone’s safety and peaceful celebration".
