Police confirmed that five people had been taken into custody in connection with the case, but the suspected shooters remained at large

Protest Erupts After Two Cousins Are Shot Dead in Angadpura; Five Arrested So Far

Families of Sahil Jindal and Gagan Jindal, the two cousins killed in a firing incident in Angadpura village of Punjab’s Moga district, refused to perform their last rites on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of all key accused in the double murder.

The protest intensified as grieving relatives raised slogans against the district administration, accusing the police of failing to arrest the main shooters. The families also alleged that the post-mortems had been conducted forcibly and without their consent.

15–20 Rounds Fired Outside Residence

According to the information provided, the incident took place on Sunday evening when unidentified assailants travelling in a black Scorpio SUV allegedly opened fire outside a residence in Angadpura. The attackers reportedly fired between 15 and 20 rounds.

Sahil Jindal and Gagan Jindal sustained bullet injuries and later died. Three other people were seriously injured and remained hospitalised, according to the report.

The firing triggered concern in the area, while the families demanded immediate action against everyone allegedly involved in the attack.

Five Arrested, but Main Shooters Yet to Be Caught

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and Moga SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal visited the crime scene on Monday and met the victims’ family members. Police confirmed that five people had been taken into custody in connection with the case, but the suspected shooters remained at large, according to reports.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other technical evidence, while forensic teams have been deployed to collect evidence from the scene. The case has been registered at City South Police Station, Moga.

Old Rivalry Suspected; 2023 Murder Also Under Scrutiny

Preliminary police investigations suggest that an old personal feud may have triggered the shooting. Investigators are also examining a possible connection with the November 2023 death of another cousin, Vikas Jindal, to establish whether the incidents are linked. However, the motive has not yet been conclusively established.

Police records cited in media reports indicate that Sahil Jindal had around 10 cases registered against him. This information forms part of the reported background to the investigation and does not establish responsibility for the current attack.

Families Demand Justice Before Last Rites

Despite the arrests, the families have maintained their protest, demanding that the main shooters and all other key accused be arrested before the cremation. The reported confrontation involving AAP MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora and party councillors further heightened tensions.

The immediate challenge for the police is to trace the suspected shooters, establish the motive and address the families’ demand for accountability. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations and suspected links must be established through evidence.
