Police in Jagraon have solved the mysterious death of a young boy whose body was found near a pond in village Hathur. Investigators have arrested two of the victim’s friends, alleging that they injected him with a poisonous substance before abandoning him near the pond. The victim, identified as Harjinder Singh, had recently returned to his village from Himachal Pradesh, where he currently had a job. His sudden death had shocked residents of Hathur and surrounding areas, as there were initially no clear indications about the circumstances leading to his death.
According to police officials, Harjinder Singh's body was discovered near a pond in Hathur village a few days ago. The recovery of the body created panic and confusion among villagers, who struggled to understand how the young man had died. Given that Harjinder had returned home on leave from his job in Himachal Pradesh, his unexpected death raised several questions. Victim’s sister Jaspreet Kaur, stated in front of the police that the accused brothers took the victim along with them. Acting on the statement, both the accused were arrested. They are identified as Kuldeep Singh and Satpal Singh, son of Bant Singh.
Police allege that the two accused administered a poisonous injection to Harjinder Singh, resulting in his death. After carrying out the act, they allegedly left him near the village pond in an attempt to conceal the crime.The accused have now been arrested and will be produced before the court for police remand. Investigators are seeking custody to conduct further interrogation and determine the motive behind the alleged murder. Authorities are particularly focused on understanding why the accused allegedly targeted their own friend and what circumstances led to the fatal incident. Police officials believe that further questioning may reveal crucial details regarding the planning and execution of the crime.
Speaking on the case, SHO Gursewak Singh said that the investigation has made significant progress with the arrest of the two accused. He added that police will continue questioning them to uncover the exact motive and any other individuals who may have been involved.
