Shri Karnail Singh, PPS, ACP HQ Jalandhar, informed that Commissionerate Police Jalandhar received information regarding a vehicle carrying cattle at Pathankot Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Division No. 8. The vehicle had reportedly been intercepted by members of the public.
On receiving the information, a police team from Police Station Division No. 8 immediately reached the spot and conducted an inspection of the vehicle. During the inspection, three cattle (bulls) were found loaded inside the vehicle.
The two persons travelling in the vehicle were apprehended by the police. They have been identified as Saleem and Farooq, both residents of Sujanpur, Pathankot.
In connection with the alleged illegal transportation/smuggling of cattle, a case has been registered at Police Station Division No. 8, Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The three cattle recovered from the vehicle have been safely handed over to a nearby Gaushala.
The arrested persons will be produced before the Hon’ble Court today. Further details will be shared as and when they emerge during the investigation.
