After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Saturday, the Punjab Government reassigned his key departments among other cabinet ministers.
According to an official notification issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and approved by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Aman Arora has been given charge of the Department of Industries & Commerce and Investment Promotion.
Tarunpreet Singh Sond has been assigned the Department of Power, while Harjot Singh Bains has been given charge of the Department of Local Government in addition to his existing responsibilities.
The Punjab Government clarified that all other portfolios allocated to cabinet ministers will remain unchanged.
Sanjeev Arora was later taken to the Enforcement Directorate office in Gurugram after a court granted the agency seven days of remand in an alleged money laundering and fake export-related case involving transactions worth nearly Rs 157.12 crore. However, entities linked to the minister have denied all allegations and stated that they will cooperate with the investigation.
