Rajvir Jawanda was injured while en route to Shimla on September 27 near Baddi in Solan district which had left him with severe head and spinal injuries.

Millions of Punjabi fans, Pollywood and political fraternity went into mourning after Rajvir Jawanda died on Wednesday. Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda, known for his soulful voice was battling for life at Fortis Mohali for the past 11 days following a major road accident in Himachal Pradesh.

Jawanda was injured while en route to Shimla on September 27 near Baddi in Solan district which had left him with severe head and spinal injuries. He was on life support since admission.

Who was Rajvir Jawanda?

Born in Ludhiana's Pauna village, Rajvir Jawanda rose to prominence with his early hits — Kangani, Jattan De Munde, and Chandigarh Returns that captured rural pride and the everyday struggles of Punjabi youth.

He began singing from a young age. After being praised by a Doordarshan team, Jawanda began practicing. He subsequently served as a constable in the Punjab Police, but left his job to pursue singing.

Not only this, during the farmers' protest at the Delhi border, he received news of his father's death during a performance. Despite this, he completed the song on stage and then left for home for the funeral.

Apart from singing, Jawanda also tried his hand in acting and also achieved success there.

Rajvir Jawanda's family

Rajveer's grandfather, Saudagar Singh, and father, retired ASI Karam Singh, have passed away. Grandmother Surjit Kaur and mother Paramjit Kaur, a former Sarpanch, lived with Jawanda.

Jawanda, along with his wife Ashwinder Kaur, has two children- daughter Hemant Kaur and son Dilawar Singh. Jawanda also has a sister, Kamaljit Kaur.

Rajvir Jawanda's educational qualification

Jawanda completed his schooling at Sanmati Vimal Jain School and graduated from DAV College, Jagraon. He later earned a Master’s degree in Theatre and Television from Punjabi University, Patiala.

Following in his father’s footsteps, who served as an ASI in Punjab Police, Rajvir joined the Punjab Police as a Constable in 2011 and was posted in Jagraon. However, after eight years of service, he decided to resign in 2019 to focus entirely on his singing career.

In 2020-21, when the farmers' protest took place on the Delhi border, Rajveer also came to support the farmers. He used to sing for free on stage for the protesting farmers. One day, while he was singing, his father died. He was informed immediately, but Rajveer continued singing on stage until the end of the program. After the performance, Rajveer informed everyone about his father's death and quickly left for the village for his funeral.

Rajvir had a passion for bikes

Rajveer Jawanda was very fond of biking. He often went on trips to the hills with fellow bikers. During these trips, he would camp on the roadside instead of staying in hotels.

Rajveer had purchased a new BMW bike worth Rs 27 lakh a few months ago. He shared this information with his fans on social media and even used it in a song.

He was riding this BMW bike at the time of the accident. He was wearing all the safety gear required for biking.

How Rajvir Jawanda's accident took place?

As per reports, Rajveer Jawanda was on a bike ride with other friends when an animal suddenly appeared in front of him, causing the bike to lose control, resulting in the accident. He suffered serious head injuries after hitting the road. He also suffered a cardiac attack before being brought to Mohali.

CM Mann had stated that he met with Rajveer's family and doctors. The family reported that his condition was very poor yesterday, with his heart was malfunctioning, and he was on four life support machines. Now his condition has improved slightly, and one machine has been removed, but he remains unconscious. Doctors and specialists are caring for him.

Rajvir Jawanda was traveling from Baddi to Shimla on his bike. According to people present at the scene, Jawanda's bike collided with a jeep while trying to save fighting bulls on the road.
