The Jalandhar district administration has announced a local holiday on September 25, 2026 (Friday) in view of the annual fair of Shri Siddh Baba Sodal Maharaj Ji. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety and convenience of people expected to attend the religious fair.
Holiday announced across government institutions
According to an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, the local holiday will apply to Punjab government offices, corporations, boards, educational institutions and other government institutions located in Jalandhar district.
The order, dated September 15, 2026, states that the holiday has been declared with the movement and safety of devotees attending the annual fair in mind.
Sodal Mela expected to draw devotees
The annual Baba Sodal Mela is a major religious gathering in Jalandhar and attracts devotees from the city as well as other parts of Punjab and neighbouring areas. The district administration has taken the holiday decision ahead of the event to facilitate public participation and manage the expected rush.
The order has been circulated to senior state government authorities, district officials and heads of concerned departments for necessary action.
