Punjab witnessed a significant change in weather during last 24 hours as light to moderate rainfall was recorded at most places across state. Thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and hailstorms were also reported in some isolated areas of the state
The rainfall brought relief from intense heat that had affected many parts of Punjab in recent days and with this the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded 42.5°C at BHATINDA AP while lowest minimum temperature was 23.4°C recorded at BHATINDA AMFU in the past 24 hours.
Several districts received notable rainfall on June 21 and as per data shared by IMD Chandigarh. Tarn Taran, Athwal, Jandiala, Patti and Ludhiana received rainfall above 1 Cm. Thunderstorm was reported in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala while Amritsar also witnessed a hailstorm in the last day.
The weather department has forecast that rainy spell will continue across Punjab over next few days and light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places from 22nd to 26th in the state. No large change in maximum temperature during next 5 days in the state are reported. In addition thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (40-50 kmph gusting upto 60 kmph) are likely at isolated places from 22nd to 26th in the state
For June 23 thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are likely at isolated places in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar(Mohali) and along with this light to moderate rainfall is expected at a few places in these districts and at isolated places in several other districts including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ferozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bhatinda, Barnala, Mansa, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Sirsa, Fatehbad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri.
On June 24 similar weather conditions are expected in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Kapurthala Ludhiana, Sangrur Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar (Mohali) along with light to moderate rainfall in these places.
June 24 and 25 record 23 thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph at isolated places over the state and light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, , Ferozpur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bhatinda, Barnala, Mansa, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Sirsa, Fatehbad.
So to put it all simply the forecast indicates that rain activity may continue in parts of Punjab until at least June 25
