The possibility of an alliance between the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal remains a key question ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections. Amid speculation over the two parties joining hands, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh today made a significant statement, saying that the BJP is fully prepared to contest all 117 Assembly seats in Punjab and form the government on its own.
Santosh said Punjab is ready for change and that the BJP is prepared to lead that change and his remarks assume significance as both the BJP and Akali Dal are reportedly preparing to contest the maximum number of seats independently.
Sources indicate that both parties are currently gearing up for their respective organisational preparations across all constituencies.
With the BJP now publicly asserting its intention to contest all 117 seats, it remains to be seen whether the two parties will eventually come together for the 2027 Assembly elections or choose to fight the election separately.
“Punjab is fully ready for change, and the BJP is fully prepared to make this change a reality. In the upcoming Assembly elections, the BJP will contest all 117 Assembly seats in Punjab and, by securing a victory, will form its government in the state,” said Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh. He was addressing the first zonal meeting held in Patiala on the first day of his two-day organisational visit to Punjab.
Earlier this morning, B.L. Santosh was welcomed at Mohali Airport by BJP Punjab State President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon and Punjab BJP Co-Incharge Sardar Narendra Singh Raina.
During his visit, B.L. Santosh will review the organisation’s activities and preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections through zonal meetings with BJP leaders and organisational office-bearers across different regions of Punjab. These meetings will focus particularly on strengthening the organisation up to the booth level and taking the party’s policies and the achievements of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of Punjab.
B.L. Santosh today chaired organisational meetings in Patiala and Bathinda. On August 25, zonal meetings will be held in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. A separate meeting with the State General Secretaries will also be held in Amritsar.
The objective of these meetings is to review the functioning of the organisation across different regions of Punjab and further strengthen organisational preparedness, coordination and the active participation of party workers at the grassroots level.
