Worst affected districts of Punjab in terms of amount of rainfall on September 1 amid red alert

IMD Chandigarh had put multiple districts of Punjab on red alert on September 1, 2025. However, heavy rainfall started in multiple districts of Punjab including Jalandhar after 11 pm on August 31.

Punjab has been reeling under one of the worst floods in decades. At least 12 districts of state are currently impacted by Punjab Floods 2025. IMD Chandigarh had put multiple districts of Punjab on red alert on September 1, 2025. However, heavy rainfall started in multiple districts of Punjab including Jalandhar after 11 pm on August 31.

Many districts continued to witness heavy rainfall the entire day on September 1. Now, IMD in its latest forecast has revealed the list of districts that witnessed highest amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours i.e. on September 1.   • Patiala – 70.5 mm

  • Mohali – 44.5 mm

  • Chandigarh City – 40.8 mm

  • SBS Nagar (Ballowal Saunkhri) – 39.7 mm

  • Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar (Balachar AMFU) – 36.0 mm

  • Gurdaspur (AMFU) – 32.8 mm

  • Amritsar – 18.3 mm

  • Mansa – 10.0 mm

  • Ludhiana (Samarala AWS) – 7.5 mm

  • Faridkot (AMFU/AWS) – 6.5 mm / 1.0 mm

  • Bhatinda (AMFU/AWS) – 4.0 mm / 5.8 mm

  • Hoshiarpur AWS – 0.5 mm

List of districts that were on red alert for heavy rainfall on September 1

Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala

Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Moga, Barnala, and Sangrur were on orange alert.

The remaining districts were on yellow alert.
