Yudh Nashian Virudh 2.0 explained: What makes it different from phase 1

The Chief Minister has given a clear message that now drug peddlers would not be spared or forgiven and strict action would be taken against them.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is continuously bulldozing the houses of drug peddlers in the state. The wrath of the state government had rained down on five districts of Punjab. The AAP has made it clear with their strict stance against drugs in every city and village, they will leave no stone unturned and continue their effort to eradicate drugs from the state. The Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann makes it clear that now drug dealers will be afraid to enter Punjab.

The Punjab government’s campaign has intensified against drugs, recently, bulldozers were used in five districts of Punjab: Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Ferozepur, Malerkotla and Faridkot. A stern action was taken against big and small drug smugglers with their illegal properties, godowns and hideouts targeted and razed to the ground. These were the merchants who had made drugs their entire business.

The Chief Minister has given a clear message that now drug peddlers would not be spared or forgiven and strict action would be taken against them. The government is actively working towards actively making an effort to make Punjab drug-free.

The success of Phase 1

The statistics of the Phase 1 reveals that the initiative is bearing fruits and working well.

- 1,859 kg heroin seized

- More than 43,000 smugglers arrested

- 29,978 FIRs registered

- Rs 15.32 crore drug money seized

- VDCs formed in 15,000 village

- 1,50,000 volunteers entered the fray

Phase 2 - ‘Village Guards’

Now, with the launch of Phase 2, on January 7, the Chief Minister has taken a new initiative ‘Pinda De Pehredar’. Under this new initiative there are various new efforts being made to eradicate drugs from the Punjab.

1. Padyatras (January 10 to 25)

- Marches will be taken out in 15,000 villages

- Youth, women and VDC members will participate

A bigger initiative to fight drug

Now, with the initiation of phase 2, the battle against drugs has gained even more momentum and brought the public on the forefront of the war against drugs. Now it’s not only the police’s battle but a battle of 3 crore Punjabis, who will fight drugs together. Every village, every city will have they’re our ‘pehredar’.
