Explained: KNOW what 10 demands Iran has made in US ceasefire talks

Talks between the two countries are set to begin on April 10 in Islamabad and Iran has said it will take part in these discussions with “complete distrust”

Iran has said that its recently announced two-week ceasefire with the United States does not mean the war is over and the country has made it clear that the final outcome will depend on upcoming talks between the two sides.

According to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council the ceasefire is only a temporary pause to allow discussions on a 10-point plan put forward by Iran and these talks are expected to decide whether the conflict will fully end.

Iran’s 10 point peace proposal

  1. US should promise no more attacks on Iran.

  2. Iran should keep control of the Strait of Hormuz.

  3. Iran’s right to continue nuclear enrichment must be accepted.

  4. All US primary sanctions should be removed.

  5. All US secondary sanctions should be removed.

  6. All United Nations Security Council restrictions on Iran should end.

  7. All International Atomic Energy Agency restrictions should end.

  8. Iran should get compensation for war damages.

  9. US forces should withdraw from the region.

  10. All fighting should stop completely (ceasefire everywhere).

Talks between the two countries are set to begin on April 10 in Islamabad and Iran has said it will take part in these discussions with “complete distrust” of the United States with the initial time frame for the talks is two weeks, but it can be extended if both sides agree.
