Both are fasting festivals observed by married women as they pray for the health, well-being, and long life of their husbands.
The Ritual of Fasting
Women keep a full-day fast without food or water and the fast continues until special rituals are performed in the evening. The fast is seen as an act of dedication and strength.
Evening Prayers
Both festivals include evening puja and offerings where devotees pray to deities for marital bliss and prosperity both fast ends after puja with the husband’s participation.
The Shared Spirit
A symbol of love and deep bond between husband and wife it strengthens family ties and traditions. It represents patience, faith, and devotion in married life.
Cultural Importance
Both festivals are part of Indian tradition across many states as it celebrates womanhood, devotion, and family harmony.
The significance
Both the Hindu festivals are celebrated in India; both celebrations have common significance. Although both, Hartalika Teej and Karva Chauth are celebrated in different months. The Hartalika Teej is celebrated on the 3rd of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada month, while Karva Chauth is celebrated on the 4th day of the bright moon in Kartik month.
