The joblessness rate in urban areas for people aged 15 years and above stood at 6.6% in the April-June 2023 period.
As per Indian govt's data, the 2023 unemployment rate is slightly lower than the joblessness rate of 6.8% recorded in the preceding three months (Jan-March 2023).
In June, China's jobless rate for 16 to 24 year olds in urban areas hit a record high of more than 20%.
As a result, China has stopped releasing youth unemployment figures, which were seen by some as a key indication of the country's slowdown.
As per Barrons, the U.S. unemployment rate was 3.7% in January 2024.
That was unchanged from the level reported in December and lower than the 3.8% rate economists surveyed by FatSet expected.
