Mercedes-Benz Integrates ChatGPT into Voice Control of its Vehicles

Users will have access to sports and weather updates, information about their surroundings, and control over their smart homes through the voice assistant.

The rollout of the beta program will be conducted over-the-air, providing convenient updates to participating vehicles.

The beta program expands Hey Mercedes functions, enabling natural dialogue and follow-up questions for navigation, weather, and more.

ChatGPT is integrated using Azure OpenAI Service, leveraging Microsoft’s enterprise-grade cloud and AI platform.

Customers can join the beta program through the Mercedes me app or by using the voice command “Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program.”

A beta program, starting from June 16, 2023, allows over 900,000 vehicles equipped with the MBUX infotainment system in the US to participate.

The addition of ChatGPT enhances the intuitive nature of voice control via the MBUX Voice Assistant’s Hey Mercedes feature.
