Tata Motors has launched three cars with twin-cylinder technology: Punch iCNG, Tiago iCNG, and Tigor iCNG.
The Punch iCNG, a part of the micro SUV segment, is India’s cheapest CNG car with this technology, with a starting price of 7.10 lakh rupees and claimed mileage of 26 Km/Kg.
The Punch is also the cheapest CNG car with a 5-star safety rating.
Tata Motors first launched the Altroz CNG with twin-cylinder technology on 9th May 2023, which was unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo.
The company had previously entered the CNG segment in February 2022 with the launch of the Tiago and Tigor featuring single-cylinder technology.
All three new models feature a safety feature that detects gas leakage. If a CNG leakage is detected, the technology automatically switches the car from CNG to petrol mode and alerts the driver.
The twin-cylinder cars offer larger boot space compared to other CNG cars, with the Punch iCNG providing 210 liters of boot space.
The Punch has a 1.2-liter petrol engine that generates 86 bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. In CNG mode, the engine is capable of generating 73.4 bhp and 103Nm of torque.
Key features of the Punch CNG include Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, automatic AC, reverse parking camera, 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, push-button start/stop with a 7-inch Harman infotainment system, and more.
